Building a consensus for an unambiguous and easy to understand definition of innovation has not yet been possible. We mean the systematic practice of innovation, applied to the market and business in which the company operates and competes, under the premise of consolidating their differentiation and adding value to its customers, employees and shareholders. This is the essence of innovation. In the business world there is much talk about the importance of being different in the market, hence the need to manage innovation as a key differentiator in building a sustainable competitive advantage over time. However, a small proportion of company leaders have chosen the promotion of a Culture of Innovation as the top priority of their strategic agendas. Many business leaders of traditional companies, taking refuge in the sacred values of their organizational cultures, seem to ignore the need to develop a genuine culture of innovation. Too often they stubbornly insist on a rigid set of policies, standards and static processes frequently obsolete that inhibit the agility and flexibility that the company should deploy in times of crisis.

The UK property industry has spent 4 years in an economic maelstrom. We came to this before anyone else in the Country, while bankers, lawyers, accountants and UK PLC executives were still popping Cristal and tugging on Cohibas, the Property Guys were heading for the storm shelter and shouting Twister'. No one listened. So that means that 50, hard working staff have been facing this onslaught for longer than any combat soldier would be expected to take. Strange analogy maybe but stress comes in many different guises and short term we can all tolerate being on red alert, in fact it's healthy to feel that way, but extend that period and the nasties set in.

Albert Einstein? Narcotics Anonymous? Max Nordau? George Bernard Shaw? George A. Rita Mae Brown?

AP Photo We've all heard Albert Einstein's famous line: "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. As it turns out, insanity might be crediting that quote to Einstein over and over again. He never said it. Misattributions like this happen pretty often. One person quotes someone else without a shoutout, and all of a sudden, they become the original speaker.

FACT CHECK: Did Albert Einstein Coin This Saying On The ‘Definition Of Insanity’?

It's often said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Very, very, very often said. Not least because it's a favored phrase of the Clintons , it's most commonly used to describe political news -- after all, by the third time a minority party in Congress tries unsuccessfully to obstruct a bill, there aren't very many new things to say about it, and that column won't write itself. Even so, journalists for the publications we skimmed through and yes, Salon is hardly immune ought to heed their own adage. No matter how many times, over and over, the same aphorism crops up, it's not going to suddenly become perceptive.
