Food is good But that floor when you walk in Carpet is a mess! The curtain to dining area is flithy! Cafe Asia is hit or miss. On one hand, the restaurant has pretty good sushi, fresh food, and some knock-out appetizers their calamari is some of the best around, as are their grilled scallops.
Ordered the spicy Chinese ravioli which were surprisingly good and some spring roll, then maki rolls after that. Sushi is average, service was average but you Came here for sushi and weren't disappointed. Well made, very tasty, not your grocery store sushi for sure. Would go back in a flash. Needs a good dusting. Look up and you can see dust and cobwebs everywhere.
Japanese bean paste soup with tofu and scallions. Asian style fried chicken wonton with scallions, bean sprouts, carrot and fried shallots. Thai style spicy lemon grass soup with choice of chicken, shrimp or veggies. Thai style coconut milk soup with galanga wild ginger and green chili. Choice of chicken, shrimp or mushrooms. Chinese Szechuan version, with tofu, black mushrooms, baby corn, bamboo shoots, egg drops, shrimp and pork.
As an Asian and local of DC, this is simply the place we will go to have some decent Asian food and I consider as great value. What it listed for the price range was not true. I would not say it is totally authentic but as an Asian, I like that taste of food there a lot. This restaurant are design for the adult, in response to the noise level and the modern setting. It may not be very children-friendly. Ask where the locals go and this is definitely the one you got to try after taking pictures outside the White House. Recommended Dish: Fried calamari, sushi bento lunch box, lemon grass chicken and penang curry.
