I know, I know. Most people go to Sin City for the casinos, the party atmosphere, and the potential for lots of debauchery. But Las Vegas doesn't have to be all about shotgun weddings and pool parties if you don't want it to be. It can actually be a really fun and really affordable! I found this out myself when I spent 2 days in Vegas with my sister, who wasn't quite 21 at the time. We couldn't get into any clubs or bars they're serious about carding at most places , and we couldn't hang around by any slot machines — under 21s can't linger in any gambling areas. So we were forced to learn about everything else Vegas has to offer.
We will be in Vegas for a couple of nights in August with our 18 and 15 year olds. Most of the advice about Las Vegas and kids that i've read seems to focus on actual kids-while of course my 18 year old is an adult[ish! There are shows to see, exhibits to take in, and the coaster at NYNY. The fountains at bellagio, the volcano at the Mirage , the wax museum near the Venetian , the Mob museum , and the Neon museum are also things to see and do. This all depends on what he likes. In addition to Mike E comments, if you have a vehicle you could always take a trip out to Red Rock or Valley of Fire , my two teenagers enjoyed that when we went a few years ago. You can walk the strip and people watch without a problem.
Las Vegas has never been effectively promoted as a family-friendly destination—and for good reason. The city has never positioned itself that way. If you happen to be under the age of 18, you might be out of luck entirely. But that is beginning to change. We recently sent our year-old reporter, Aaron Robert Berke and his mom to Las Vegas to discover the experiences beyond gambling, alcohol, and x-rated shows. Here is his report. But then there was the reality.
If you have yet to turn the glorious age of 21, but still want to venture to Sin City, you are not alone. Every summer my friends and I take a trip to Las Vegas, and we have the time of our lives, the only catch being that we are all underage. One might question the reasoning behind our seemingly useless trip, but to heck with those people. They simply do not understand that Vegas is not just for those who are above the age of 21, anyone can have a little fun in Sin City! Each year we stay at Treasure Island, so we may be a bit biased, but it really is a good time.
By Zeke Quezada. Taking teens to Vegas is tough. They're no longer kids but aren't adults either. So, what do you do with your teens while in Las Vegas? Luckily, there are a few ways to entertain teenagers in Las Vegas without boring the parents in the process. If your teenagers are learning to drive, take them to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and have them sit in the passenger seat of an exotic racing vehicle as it glides through the course. Are your kids taking AP Biology?
