The American Museum of Natural History is the largest natural history museum in the world with a mission commensurately monumental in scope. The entire museum spans 4 city blocks and consists of some 25 interconnected buildings. The museum has about devices that can be borrowed during a visit. Just there with three girlfriends, we all fell in love with Kevin our guide. He was quirky and funny and very knowledgeable. Kevin made the whole tour fun and informative. This was not our favourite activity in our short time in NY and we wished we had picked another activity. The first exhibit exploring and talking about the problem with past musem displays and representations of diverse cultures and moments in history was very interesting We had the all access tour. Was well planned and got to see everything we wanted and then some.

The American Museum of Natural History is one of the best museums in the area for children and adults as well , showcasing natural wonders from dinosaurs to outer space. Tickets : Tickets are available onsite or online. New visitors to the museum should make it a point to see the Hayden Planetarium, which is located in the Rose Center for Earth and Space. The planetarium hosts shows that detail cosmic events, such as the formation of stars and planets, as well as shows that describe the celestial bodies viewable from Earth. Some evenings the planetarium also hosts a laser light show, setting stunning visual images to popular music. These films encompass an array of scientific subjects, including the natural world and zoology. Films are shown on a foot-wide, foot-high screen that makes audience members feel that they are part of the movie.
Located in Theodore Roosevelt Park across the street from Central Park , the museum complex comprises 28 interconnected buildings housing 45 permanent exhibition halls, in addition to a planetarium and a library.
