It also highlights how Apple, under the leadership of Steve Jobs, will forge a future far different from its floundering, money-losing days of the early s. Narrated by actor Richard Dreyfuss , the TV spot starts out with an instantly memorable salute to counterculture ideals. The ones who see things differently. The successful ad, and an accompanying set of posters, did more than simply mark the return of Jobs to Apple. In the most cynical terms possible, the new marketing blitz served as a stalling tactic for Apple. It was an attempt to convince shareholders and customers that things would be different under Jobs, despite a lack of new Apple products. Call it a lack of confidence.

The most creative people I know are often the ones who have a hell-raiser trait in them, regardless of whether this comes from nature or nurture. These are people who think different, feel different, behave different. Organizations both value and despise them. They make people uncomfortable. They challenge thoughts, processes, and the status quo. They disrupt and dismiss. They push.

In , Apple was in deep trouble. In , Apple was the most valuable brand in the world. Crazy, right? Lee Clow. Rob Siltanen.

Think different is an advertising slogan used from to by Apple Computer, Inc. Reportedly everyone in the meeting expressed approval with the exception of the recently returned Jobs who said "the slogan was stupid because Apple wasn't [yet] back. Jobs then invited three advertising agencies to present new ideas that reflected the philosophy he thought had to be reinforced within the company he had co-founded. The script was written by Rob Siltanen with participation of Lee Clow and many others on his creative team. Susan Alinsangan and Margaret Midgett Keene were also instrumental in developing the campaign further as it progressed and spread throughout the world. Great contributions were made by professionals in all agency departments from account services, to art buying, to production, to contract negotiators and media buyers who secured key placements. The commercial's music was composed by Chip Jenkins for Elias Arts.

  1. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the tags: advertising, apple, change, commercial, computers, different, madness.
